Thank You Nolan & Nancy for a Great Gettysburg Trip!

Thanks to the hard work of Nancy and Nolan Hanson, the Gettysburg trip was a fabulous success. Thirty three folks made the trip with wonderful dinners, a very enlightening Battlefield, and the Eisenhower Farm Tours. Eighteen members made a side trip to Frederick, Md airport forr Crab Cakes and a tour of AOPA Headquarters. We were treated to a special surprise when President Boyer saw us in the hallway and stopped for several minutes to personally chat with our group. One nice surprise was Leo and Marge Borrello made the trip.

Georgia Flyers Respond to Emergency Request from Angel Flight

I am pleased to announce our Club received an Emergency Request from Angel Flight early Saturday September 3rd to meet a crisis for supplies in the Katrina Shelters at Baton Rouge. I was provided with a list 15 items of baby food, blankets, pillows, lotions, personal items etc. which were badly needed. After making several emails to members, visiting friends and neighbors, and several phone calls the process began. Several of us went to Sam’s and purchase cases of requested items, and delivered them to McCullom Field before noon Sunday. Five member pilots, and also Angel Flight Pilots, volunteered their Aircraft for delivering the items. Angel Flight found one of their pilots who owns a spacious Cessna Caravan. After gathering about 1600 pounds of supplies we found we could get it all in the Caravan. A decision was then made not to use Bob Inman’s, Jim Turner’s, and Ron Deering’s smaller planes. Two of the Jet Preferred employees ask if they could add some family and Church Donations to our supplies. While we were eating lunch several black bags were delivered to the plane, and were also sent to Baton Rouge. Many of our members were out of town and the short time frame, or this club would have done even more. Not only did we have willing crews but members who made very generous donations. I am extremely proud of those members who did such a great service in procurement and delivery of these items in just over 24 hours, after the State of Louisiana Shelter Director’s request was received to us through Angel Flight. The Caravan Pilot/Owner now wants to be a part of this great organization.

GREAT SOUTHEASTERN ALABAMA AIRPORT TOUR. October 1-2.

Sam DiGiamarrino will again lead “The Great Southeastern Air Tour” to Alabama. This is a great way to really know each other. Don’t be left out of this super event. Sam and his Committee have now finalized plans for this popular annual October event with great stops on the route including the Tuskeegee Airmen Museum. Many of us have already received our sign up materials and schedule of events. Last year flying into seven Georgia airports was a super experience. Alabama should be even more fun. TULLAHOMA BEECHCRAFT MUSEUM TRIP:

November 11-13th Harold Bost, former Bonanza Society President will lead a trip to Tullahoma for the Beechcraft Museum and the Jack Daniel Distillery Visit. Any samples Harold? You need to signup with Harold to assure your reservations are set.

Be sure and check the web page schedule for the remaining activities for 2005.

Lets all support as many of the events and meetings as possible. We appreciate all the hard work of our Trip Captains, and Meeting Hosts in putting our 2005 program together.

After the Amelia Island trip was cancelled for the last hurricane, Paul and Sherri Platt have volunteered to plan and act as trip Captain for several one day trips to places of interest, pancake breakfasts, restaurants, events etc. We are testing the success of this program as we plan for next years program to augment our longer multi-day trips. The hope is that aircraft renters, fractional owners, families with children, and who have jobs which prevent them enjoying the longer trips can fly and enjoy socializing with other members. I urge you to support the Platt’s in making social flying more accessible to as many members as possible.

Happy Landings
