Georgia Flyers

Chairman’s Corner

October Flyers Meeting:

We are deeply indebted to Doug and Linda Johnson for hosting our October meeting. Linda provided a tasty catered meal, while our aviation insurance Guru addressed a very excellent insight into aviation insurance history, and the limited companies serving this sector of the industry. We learned about how insurance companies determine rates and why, as well risks they are willing to absorb. After his brief visual aural message, he fielded a flurry of excellent questions from the membership. Super job and thanks again Doug.

Popup Trips:

Sheri and Paul Platt’s one day popup trips have increased in popularity. Because of interest, I understand we will see them as monthly opportunities to fly and socialize with Georgia Flyer friends in the coming year. Watch your email for details on these fun trips. The next popup is 19 November is an adventure to for lunch in North Carolina near Ashville. Contact Sheri at sjp@platt.org for more information. Expect short trips on weekends so aircraft renters, partial owners, and those unable to fly 2-4 day trips can enjoy Georgia Flyer flying fun.

Tullahoma, Tn. November Flyin

By the time you read this newsletter 13 Georgia Flyers will have visited the Beechcraft Museum, Miss Bo Bo’s famous Boarding House and the Jack Daniel Distillery. We appreciate Harold Bost for his hard work making this trip possible.

Christmas Party:

Excitement is building as plans are finalized for our last 2005 event scheduled for Saturday December 3rd at the Petite Auberge Restaurant. This is always a special festive event, as new officers for 2006 are installed. Carolyn Deering, Carol Comer, have lots of pleasant surprises for all of us. They have engaged the same popular DJ who entertained last year’s party. Be sure and mark your calendars. It is a time we dress up for a nice evening of socializing, dinner and dancing. Carol Comer just mailed the formal invitations detailing the meal options, and RSVP information. The club is footing the bill for the DJ, Dance Floor lease, setup, delivery, and decorations, as well as a $10 per plate reduction in cost for members. Cost for Members will be $40 and guests $50. We are committed to at least 50 persons. You will not want to miss this final Georgia Flyers event of 2005.

Plans for 2006:

We can expect many exciting activities for the club in 2006. President elect Ron Deering and Board Chairman Jim Turner have already been hard at work, planning and putting a team together. If you have program ideas and willing to help please contact Ron at rdeering1@comcast.net . The January meeting is always well attended as the team rolls out the 2006 plans. You will learn of more details in the final December Newsletter.

Happy Landings
